I just received the following Flickr mail:

I am writing to let you know that one of your photos has
been short-listed for inclusion in the fourth edition of our Schmap Liverpool Guide, to be published early November 2007.

While we offer no payment for publication, many photographers are pleased to submit their photos, as Schmap Guides give their work recognition and wide exposure, and are free of charge to readers. Photos are published at a maximum width of 150 pixels, are clearly attributed, and link to high-resolution originals at Flickr.

I followed the link, to discover that it was this picture that had been shortlisted.

HB let out a "Whoo!" in my ear, then pointed both his index fingers in my face.

"I took that one. They liked mine!"

we can't do tomorrow cause we've got 'training' and the clocks go back an hour so i'll be struggling to get out of bed as it is... plus saturday night i've penciled in to read more... need to get that lead extended...

I'd be slightly freaked that I'd been schmapped without my initial permission! But apart from that - wahey!

The email had a link, and I had to either accept or refuse my permission for them to use it.
It's out there on public domain, so I guess anyone could see it...

Thats sooo cool!!! I got one of mine in the sun herald, but i submitted that one... being picked by professionals... now that is something to be extreemely proud of.. well done BOTH of you!!!!

I read somewhere that the Schmap selections might be random - on account of how they're not always that original, or well-composed, or even well-focussed.
I'm sure your published pic was much better than ours :)
